Dr. Hou Leong has over 26 years of professional eye care experience. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Biological Science with emphasis on Cellular Biology. He also received a degree in Physiological Optics from U.C. Berkeley. In 1992 he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from U.C. Berkeley. He has been in private practice in Fremont since 1997. Dr. Leong is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin, and knows basic Spanish.
His specialty is fitting overnight advanced orthokeratology (Ortho-K) lenses to control and reduce myopia and astigmatism. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (AAOMC) and is certified to design the newest ortho-K lens treatment systems. He attends the AAOMC annual meeting to learn the latest innovations for myopia control. He also has extensive experience with treatment of ocular diseases. He is the director of a non-profit program to help perform vision screenings for children at public and private schools throughout the Bay Area. Dr. Leong loves to help children and welcomes new and previous patients of any age.
Dr. Leong has worked with the State Board of Optometry and the Department of Consumer Affairs to develop the California State Law Examination administered to new California licensed doctors.
Dr. Leong is a member of the California Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association and the Alameda Contra Costa County Optometric Society.
